Retire Hardware Without the Risk
NIST 800-88 certified data destruction. R2v3 compliant recycling. Asset buyback that recovers value. Full chain of custody documentation for every serial number.
The Problem
Retired servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment sitting in a cage are not just wasted space -- they are a data breach waiting to happen and an audit finding waiting to be written. Every drive that has not been properly sanitized carries sensitive data: customer records, financial transactions, protected health information. One improper disposal can trigger regulatory penalties, legal liability, and the kind of headline no CISO wants to explain. Most organizations know they need a formal ITAD process. Few have one that can withstand a compliance audit.
What We Do
DataCenterLifecycle provides end-to-end IT asset disposition -- from pickup to certified destruction to revenue recovery. Every asset is tracked by serial number with full chain of custody documentation.
NIST 800-88 Data Destruction
Data sanitization follows NIST 800-88 Rev. 1 guidelines. Methods include overwrite, degaussing, and physical destruction depending on your security requirements. Certificates of destruction are generated for every asset.
Revenue Recovery Through Buyback
Retired hardware has residual market value. Our buyback program recovers revenue from decommissioned equipment and puts money back into your IT budget. You turn a disposal cost into a line item on the positive side of the ledger.
Full Chain of Custody
Every asset is tracked by serial number from the moment we take possession through final disposition. Chain of custody manifests, environmental compliance certificates, and certificates of destruction provide a complete audit trail.
On-Site Destruction Available
For high-security environments where hardware cannot leave the premises, we provide on-site data destruction. Degaussing and physical shredding performed at your facility with witnessed destruction and immediate certification.
How It Works
Inventory and Assessment
We catalog your retired assets: serial numbers, equipment types, data classification levels, and your compliance requirements. This determines the appropriate destruction method and recovery potential for each asset.
Secure Collection
Assets are collected with documented chain of custody from the moment they leave your rack. Locked transport, GPS-tracked vehicles, and tamper-evident seals ensure physical security during transit.
Data Destruction and Processing
Drives are sanitized per NIST 800-88 Rev. 1 via overwrite, degaussing, or physical shredding. Equipment with remarketing value is refurbished and sold through our buyback program. Non-recoverable assets are recycled through R2v3 certified processes.
Documentation and Reporting
You receive certificates of destruction for every asset, chain of custody manifests, environmental compliance certificates, and a reconciled asset report with serial-number-level detail.
Traditional Disposal vs. Certified ITAD
Drives wiped with free tools and "hope for the best." No formal verification.
NIST 800-88 Rev. 1 compliant. Certificate of destruction for every asset.
A spreadsheet and maybe a signed pickup receipt.
Full chain of custody, environmental compliance certificates, serial-number-level tracking, audit-ready reports.
Equipment shipped to an unknown recycler. Liability stays with you.
R2v3 and ISO 14001 certified. Documented responsible recycling with your liability fully transferred.
Retired hardware goes to a recycler for free -- or you pay them to take it.
Buyback program recovers value from usable equipment. Revenue returned to your IT budget.
Scramble to produce documentation when the auditor asks.
Audit-ready reporting delivered with every engagement. HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX documentation included.
Not typically available. Assets must be shipped off-site.
On-site degaussing and physical destruction available for high-security environments.

“We had 400+ decommissioned servers sitting in cages across three data centers for over a year because nobody could agree on a secure disposal process. DataCenterLifecycle handled the entire project in six weeks -- certified data destruction for every drive, full chain of custody documentation, and our buyback credit covered the cost of the engagement. Our HIPAA auditors reviewed the documentation and had zero findings.”
Compliance and Certifications
Certified responsible electronics recycling. Your hardware is processed through an audited, environmentally compliant facility -- not exported or landfilled.
The highest industry certification for data destruction. Processes are audited for compliance with documented chain of custody requirements.
International environmental management certification. Critical for organizations with ESG reporting requirements or sustainability mandates.
Security controls independently audited annually. Ensures your assets are handled through verified secure processes.
ITAD is where compliance risk concentrates. A single improperly wiped drive can trigger HIPAA penalties, PCI-DSS findings, or data breach notification requirements. Our certifications are not marketing badges -- they are auditable proof that your assets were handled correctly.
